I always knew that I wanted to help the world in some way.  I didn’t realize that the seed had been planted 10 years ago when I was first exposed to Reiki.  I was leading a group of 60 elementary school children on a camping trip in Ojai, California.  We had been on the bus for a few hours, and after unloading equipment, heavy bags, and setting up tents, my lower back was in pain.  As the adults stood around the picnic area while the kids ate dinner, I shared my complaint with my friend and co-worker, who was a Reiki master.  She said, “I could help you with that.” She put her hand on my lower back, and after just a few minutes, I felt the pain melting away.  I was amazed, and of course asked her what she did. It took many years for that sprout to germinate and show itself in my daily life because at that time, I was convinced I would change the world by working with children.

Transitions in our lives are launched into action by moments of conflict, tragedy, or great stress. If we were happy about everything, we would never feel inspired to change, right?  There were two significant events that lead me to my current life path; the realization that teaching wasn’t for me, and finding my spiritual community while grieving through a divorce.

I studied Psychology at Cal State Long Beach and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1997.  I grew up with the YMCA and was a camp counselor for many years.  I went back to school to earn my teaching credential.  I taught 5th grade for  7 years, and 1 year teaching Environmental Education.  Students made me laugh and cry, they kept me energized, and fed my desire to be creative.  I made a difference in hundreds of children’s lives.  I fulfilled my desire to make the world a better place.  But after awhile, I no longer felt the passion and joy.

In the meantime, around my third year of teaching, I came to the sad realization that my marriage was over. It was one of the biggest challenges in my life.  It was during the deepest moments of my internal struggle and search for something greater that a close friend invited me to a spiritual ceremony based on the teachings of Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow).  It was a magical Dance in the desert that introduced me to a beautiful community of like-minded people.  As soon as I set foot on the land, I felt a powerful, vibrational energy that impacted my soul and made me feel at home.  This community spoke a language that I could understand, and it introduced me to the Spiritual Path that I am currently on.  It was through these sacred Dances that I received deep insights into my purpose on the planet.  I became aware that our thoughts send out vibrations around us, and that our intentions are very powerful.  I had always been aware of energy around me, even as a child, but it was through the past 10 years of spiritual practices of sweat lodge, Beautiful Painted Arrow’s ceremonies, and drumming with a Lakota Sun Dance community, that allowed me to hone in my abilities and work with it.

As I began to suspect that teaching was no longer meant for me, I still tried to fight for it.  Looking back with insights from my sacred Dances, I now recognize that certain events were signs from the Universe that it was time to reevaluate my goals and desires.  What really makes me happy? How can I serve? What are my best skills? When I finally accepted that teaching was not the best way for me to give back to the world, I allowed myself some time for deep, inner soul-searching.  Through a combination of significant dreams, synchronistic happenings, and a nagging voice that kept saying “reiki”, I decided to look up Reiki classes in Denver.

Reiki Experience

After the Sun Dance in 2016, I had a very strong feeling of warmth and vibration in my hands, like a tingly sensation.  It didn’t go away for a few days.  I went to Jazz in the Park.  There I had an insight that I should share the energy in my hands with everyone there.  It was then that I remembered my first experience with Reiki, and the feeling in my hands was much the same as the Reiki my friend had shared.  I thought, “I’ve got to take a Reiki class and see what this is all about!” So, in April 2017, I received my Reiki levels 1 and 2 from Lisa Guyman.  It immediately had a positive effect on my daily life.  I loved it and couldn’t wait to get my Reiki Master certification, which I did in October 2017. I knew then that I want to  raise the vibration of this planet, and give back to the world by helping people.  I can do that by offering you Reiki.  Since receiving my Reiki attunements and symbols, I have been giving sessions to friends and bookings through this website. I also offer reiki to seniors twice a month at a retirement community.

Rocks

I've been collecting rocks since I was a teenager.  When I took a geology class in college, one of the course materials was a bag of rocks to teach us the difference between metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary.  I was hooked.  First I received a polished piece of stone from a friend, and then another, and soon I was seeking them out in nature as well as gem shows.  After spending about 16 hours wandering around at the Denver Gem Show in 2016, I had the revelation that I would very much enjoy working with gems and minerals, because it is something I am passionate about, and I could learn more.  It was there that I met Moses Samora, owner of Samora Minerals and Amber Company.  He gave me a job as a team member doing sales, merchandising, and inventory.  I worked with them in Tucson at the Gem show in 2017 and 2018, and at the fall show in Denver in 2017.  Along with the growth of my spirituality, I learned the metaphysical qualities of different stones for different purposes. I enjoy sitting with different stones in my hand and feeling their vibrations, meditating with them. I would love to share the special gift of their powerful presence with you!
